Bertram TX city limit sign

Bertram Texas, a friendly little city of around 1300 people, is located at the intersection of TX HWY 29, FM 243 and RM 1174 about 45 miles northwest of Austin. Bertram is best known for the annual Oatmeal Festival, its train depot that was restored by the Austin Steam Train Association, and several unique businesses that are at the top of their respective fields. The Bertram Elementary School, grades K-5, has achieved the "Exemplary" rating, the highest rating given to Texas schools, the last four years. As part of the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District, the older Bertram students attend an excellent middle school and high school in Burnet, ten miles to the west.

Bertram has an infrastructure that is far advanced when compared with other cities its size. It has an abundant water supply, a wastewater treatment plant, and a full-time police department. There is a local motel, a couple convenience stores and a Dollar General. The relaxed rural setting and the friendly people make this nearly crime free area an excellent place to live.
